I made a mistake by running SYS C:\ from a windows ME startup disk on my computer which was a dual boot (ME & XP). Now I dont have my OS options screen anymore. I am unable to get to XP by anymeans. Everytime I switch on my machine, it by default gets into ME. Any change in boot.ini file has no effect!

I replaced the motherboard in a computer with XP pro and it will boot into safe mode but I'm unable to uninstall enough of the drivers to get it to come up in normal mode to install the new drivers. Is there an easy way around this or should I just back up the data and reinstall XP? Tony.

I am able to boot Microsoft Windows XP bootable CD disc. I am able to install XP into the hard drive. I am NOT able to boot XP from hard drive, only black screen. I am able to boot DOS from floppy and Harddrive. However, when I boot DOS, I am NOT able to detect the CR-ROM device. Your advise is much appreciated.

Bill, thanks for the response, however as I am unable to boot the machine into anything resembling Windows I am therefore unable to apply a patch to resolve the Recovery So I'm kind off half way into an install that wont complete. Its possible to boot with XP CD and go to Recovery Console and/or XP Install.
